Leader is an art restorer George Stout (played by George Clooney) is. Why in the war he ventured middle to Germany, he answered years later as: "What if we win the war but lose the last 500 years of our cultural history"
For months, crawled the "Monuments Men" mountain tunnel, discovered priceless works of art, including Rembrandt's "Night Watch" (invaluable).

"Pretty big is the Clooney ..." At the premiere in New York Harry Ettlinger met (now 88, photo) the man who has filmed a piece of his life story.
As a German Jew Heinz Ludwig Chaim Ettlinger 1938 fled with his parents from Karlsruhe to New York.
As a U.S. GI he came back in January 1945.
To IMAGE he says, "I should be in the 99th Infantry Division in the Ardennes battle. But then I was needed as a translator, a monument was Man.
I know that we have won a great victory. "
