Sounds like one of George's co-stars is asking to be pranked!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

toofab: You're shooting "Tomorrowland" now. What's it like to work with George Clooney?

Britt: George Clooney is actually a huge prankster. That's sort of his jam. I had no idea. You see George Clooney and you think he's suave and handsome and really charming, but he's such a goofball! He's been on a little bit of a hiatus from us, so we have a few pranks lined up, just to make sure he's comfortable. Apparently, there are no pranks that he's not comfortable with.
Wonder what they did?

Britt Robertson dishes on pranking George Clooney Empty BRITT ROBERTSON TALKS 'TOMORROWLAND'

Post by Sevens Mon 19 May 2014, 16:15

Don't know if we've got this:
IAR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: BRITT ROBERTSON TALKS 'DELIVERY MAN' AND 'TOMORROWLAND'
Friday, 15 November 2013 09:02
Finally, I wanted to ask you about your upcoming film Tomorrowland. Are you shooting that right now?

Robertson: I am. I’m shooting that in Florida and we will be jumping all over the place to shoot that in the next couple of months. But we’ve been underway for about three months now.

What’s it like working with director Brad Bird?

Robertson: Brad Bird is the coolest. He is awesome. He is a really great director and unlike anyone else I’ve ever worked for. He comes from animation so his vision on story is unlike anyone I’ve ever met before. It’s incredible to be in his presence on a daily basis, to hear what he has to say and collaborate with him. It’s really cool.

Having Vince Vaughn, and now George Clooney as a co-star in Tomorrowland, that’s pretty good company to be in, right?

Robertson: Yeah, and not a bad skip and a jump. That’s for sure. They’re both really cool dudes and very funny and goofy in similar ways.

Has George Clooney pulled any pranks on you while filming?

Robertson: Yeah, George is a big prankster. We have this big lake scene where he kept pretending that he was being eating alive by beavers. We all knew that beavers weren’t eating him but he kept insisting on continually joking about it, which was pretty funny.

What can you say about the character you play in the film?

Robertson: Not much. I can tell you that she is a girl named Casey, she is a high school student, she gets thrown into a world, and it is a movie called Tomorowland. That’s all I got for you.

Britt: I'm actually doing my dream role. It's pretty true. I never knew how to answer that question prior to this, but "Tomorrowland" is probably my dream role. It's a huge movie with action, and so much heart and emotion, but it's fun and funny. I get to do anything and everything that you could imagine, and I get to work with really cool people. So, I'm doing it, I'm living it. I remember the moment that I realized that I was going to get the opportunity to be in my dream role, and I said, "I just don't think life gets any better!" You have to take that moment and expand it for as long as possible because it's such a cool feeling. I just wish it would last forever, and it does, if you let it.

Delivery Man's Britt Robertson Talks Working With Vince Vaughn And The Fantastical Tomorrowland
BY ERIC EISENBERG 2013-11-22 14:24:35

And is the movie you’re working on now Tomorrowland still? I know there’s a bit of secrecy around it, but can you talk a little bit about your character?

Yeah, I play a young girl named Casey and she’s like a highly intellectual young girl and she’s just this average girl who has a really simple life and then kind of gets drug out of her simple life and gets thrown into a very crazy situation.

How fantastical does it really get?

It is what everyone is hoping it will be in that way, but there’s so many different aspects to the movie. I mean, it’s hard to say without saying anything, because we’re not allowed to say anything about anything, but it’s fantastical and it’s sweet and it’s funny and it’s scary and it’s all of those things that you hope it will be, hopefully.

Working with Brad Bird - he’s coming off of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol., and he has this great history in animation. What’s been your experience working with him on set?

It’s been a really awesome experience. I’ve learned so much and, you know, I’ve been able, working with him, I’ve had to sort of treat this as a different project in itself, because I kind of have a different process than I’ve ever had before, because he’s a guy that, all he needs you to do is show up to work prepared and he will manipulate you to be the person he wants you to be as long as you show up prepared, then he can tweak you and like, he’ll literally be like, "Move your arm up, up more, up more. Now do this weird face. Now, scrunch your nose," and you’re just, in this bizarre situation and you look really ridiculous, but it’s hilarious, then he’ll be like, "Ok, now start the scene," and you just go for it, so it’s a completely different process than I’ve had with any other project, but it’s like being, I’m such a big kid, for the last three months I’ve just been playing nonstop.

How much longer is the production?

We finish at the end of January.

Oh, wow.

I know. It’s long. It’s good. It’ll be fun.

It’ll be worth it?

Definitely.

Britt Robertson Talks DELIVERY MAN, Working with Vince Vaughn, the Audition Process for TOMORROWLAND, UNDER THE DOME, and More
by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted 235 days ago

At the recent Los Angeles press day, I landed an exclusive interview with Britt Robertson. She talked about being a fan of Vince Vaughn and what it was like to work with him, the way she prepares for a role, what she collects, getting to work with Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof on Tomorrowland (plus a bit on her character), her reaction to reading the script for the first time, Under the Dome, Jon Kasdan’s The First Time, and more.  Hit the jump for what she had to say.
What is the most you’ve researched/preparation you’ve done for any of your roles?
ROBERTSON: Well, the film that I’m doing right now there’s sort of a lot of — I play a highly intelligent young woman and she’s a young girl who knows a lot, and so I’ve had to research more than anything I’ve ever researched for, and so that’s been challenging because it’s topics I don’t know anything about and I had to speak with people who do understand. It’s hard, I can’t say anything about it!
I completely get it.
ROBERTSON: But there’s a lot of like — plot, you know–
You have to say big words.
ROBERTSON: Not even big words, I just have to know about NASA and technology and things that I would never learn about as an actor unless I was playing somebody who understands technology and NASA.
That’s also at the same time very exciting, because, I think that one of the cool things is being able to constantly explore different walks and learning about things you would never normally learn.
ROBERTSON:
Most definitely, and then attacking them from a different way than you would because you are portraying someone else and you see things in a different light than someone else.
I also obviously want to touch on — I’m a massive fan of Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird.  I know you can’t talk specifically about the movie and I will not ask you to, but I am curious about your reaction when you first were getting approached for possibly being in it and reading the script for the first time. I spoke to some of the others actors, and they mentioned they had to, like, go to a room and read it on their own.
ROBERTSON:  At first — I auditioned for this thing, like, a million times over the course of a year.  It was so top secret, when I first auditioned, to the point where the sides weren’t real.  You didn’t get any backstory, you don’t understand what you’re talking about, and there’s subject matter that does not make any sense.  There’s no context.  So when I was auditioning, I was just kind of like, “I don’t know. I think this is right,” and I did that for maybe four or five times, and finally I kept getting further down or just closer to meeting Brad.  At this point, I hadn’t even met Brad, and then when I finally met with him, I was able to read the script, and I had to go in a room and read it by myself. I was like, crying.
That’s what I’ve heard from people.
ROBERTSON:  Yeah, everyone’s like — walking out, because it has so many different things that are — I don’t know.  Whatever, we won’t talk about it, but my reaction when I first read it was it made quite an impact, for sure, and then it made the process of auditioning even harder, because at this point I was like, “I need this movie.  This is my movie. Like, I want this movie.”  So when Damon and Brad finally called and told me that I had the job, it was just like, “What?”  I couldn’t even process it, but it was cool.  Very cool.
What has it been like working for Brad as a director?   The guy’s a genius.
ROBERTSON:  He is a genius.  It’s scary.  I have to forget every day that I’m working with Brad Bird, because he’s so good and he’s like an icon, you know?  It’s great, but he’s like most — he’s everything you think an animation director would be.  He’s really specific, and he can manipulate everything to make his vision come alive, and that’s all he wants: is for this movie to be what he wants it to be, and he’s so passionate about this movie.  So we’re just working our butts off trying to give it to him every day, and I think it’s gonna be pretty good.
My last question for you, because I gotta wrap: what are you thinking about after you wrap on Tomorrowland?  Which I know is a long shoot.  Do you jump right into Under the Dome again, or do you sort of have time to do something else?
ROBERTSON:  I probably will jump into the Under the Dome fairly quickly.  I think they start shooting in February and we wrap in February, so I’ll probably go back there pretty quickly, but I’m also going to try to take a couple days off to reboot the system, you know?

Britt Robertson Dishes About 'Delivery Man', Guardian Angels & The Secrecy Surrounding 'Tomorrowland'
Robertson is currently filming Tomorrowland, the mysterious George Clooney vehicle written and directed by Brad Bird, a career move that will hopefully further thrust her into the spotlight. “It’s still really hush, hush. It’s kind of an action adventure film. The director and everybody involved are super passionate about how the audience will experience it,” she says. “Hopefully if we do it right, it’s going to be one of those movies where people can go and get away and experience this other world. As much as we can keep secret we’re trying to because it’s so much more fun that way.“

The breakout actress lands her biggest role to date.

The same cannot be said of her latest role, opposite George Clooney, in the sci-fi adventure Tomorrowland, slated for release next year. Robertson, who is 23, once again plays a teen—this time one who stumbles upon an alternate reality. Her famously dashing costar, she says, was “so not what you’d expect. During our scenes together, he’d pull out his phone and play fart noises.”

CS: Do you know where you want to aim your career? Do you have a dream role?
Robertson: I'm doing it right now.

CS: "Tomorrowland"?
Robertson: Yeah, honestly. "Tomorrowland" is very much the dream role for me. I've always wanted to do a movie like this. Movies like this aren't made anymore and it's so cool that I get to be a part of it. I get to do something new and crazy every day and my character goes through so many different things. I get to do all of it. It's awesome.

Britt Robertson dishes on pranking George Clooney Empty Re: Britt Robertson dishes on pranking George Clooney

Post by Sevens Thu 12 Feb 2015, 02:20

In real life, Britt is refreshingly down-to-earth. Originally from North Carolina, her southern charm shines through. I appreciated Britt’s giggle at the fact that Space Mountain still scares me (it’s a rollercoaster in the dark -- how is that not scary??) and her passion to help those in need.

During our chat, we discussed her role in White Rabbit, the transformation of her character, and what it was like to work with super-hunk George Clooney:

YH: You recently wrapped up Tomorrowland, which is based on the land at Disneyland. How much of the actual land makes its way into the film, and do you have a favorite attraction in the real Tomorrowland?
BR: It is loosely based on the idea of Tomororwland in the theme park. There is not a huge connection. I think when Brad [Bird] and Damon [Lindelof] came to Disney and pitched the idea around something in the theme parks, that’s what kickstarted the idea. We actually did shoot in both Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida. I love Space Mountain. It’s fantastic.

YH: You also had the chance to work with Brad Bird and George Clooney in the film. As a director, what was he like to work with, and what was it like to work with George Clooney?
BR: It sort of felt like the first acting experience ever. With Brad, he’s so specific and knows exactly what he wants. He has this movie he’s already planned in his head. Working with him was very technical. I had to learn a new way of taking direction and approaching ideas. It was really a new version of learning how to act and have this relationship with the director. It was a little intimidating working with George, I’m not going to lie, to be the new girl on set. But he was so warm, kind, and normal, eventually I felt comfortable and was able to work with the best of them. He was so generous and helped me along the way with any bumps or any issues I may have had. It was a wonderful experience, and I came out of it learning so much about filmmaking. I’m really grateful for it.

Britt Robertson dishes on pranking George Clooney Empty Re: Britt Robertson dishes on pranking George Clooney

Post by Sevens Thu 12 Feb 2015, 02:42

Do you ever think that because of Tomorrowland, you’ll never be in a film this small again?
It’s a very specific type of filmmaking that you might have to say goodbye to.
Yeah, that would be so sad if I didn’t get to experience it ever again. But I hadn’t really thought about it, actually. It’s such a good point. With low-budget movies like that it’s such a different experience than studio filmmaking. But since then I’ve done a small indie over the holidays. We shot in 23 days and we were shooting like 16 scenes a day. So it isn’t lost on me and I do appreciate that world, and I think it makes me a better actor in some ways, so I’ll always return to it if I get a chance.
What were some of the bigger adjustments you had to make while shooting something likeTomorrowland?
You just mentioned shooting 16 scenes a day, but for something likeTomorrowland it might take you several days just to shoot one scene.
Yeah, there’s more coverage and we have a lot more time to spend per page per day. But then again in certain scenes—I remember we had a couple of car scenes that we shot and we would shoot like eight pages a day for those car scenes. But then we would have one scene that we would spend three weeks on. I think the biggest adjustment would be staying fresh. When you’re used to shooting quickly and going, going, going, everything is fresh. You have so many chances to give it a shot. So I think the biggest adjustment is keeping fresh with the material for as long as we had to work on it.
Yeah, and they raised the money. It was like $45,000. But I wanted to ask you how strange it must be to work on one film that is trying to raise $45,000 to get distribution, and this other film, Tomorrowland, spends that much on catering in a week. What is that disparity like?
I think it just makes you appreciate different aspects of filmmaking. The focus would be on just getting the material when working on a movie like that since you don’t have a lot of time or money. It's a bit like guerrilla filmmaking. That’s almost what brings out the heart and the emotion in these kinds of films. You pour your life into it, it takes so much more. For a movie like Tomorrowland, it costs so much to make that movie and because of how huge it is, the scope is just more than I can even describe. But little movies like White Rabbit, they don’t need a lot of money. You can do it for a million dollars.
Did you get to watch the Tomorrowland Super Bowl teaser live on TV?
No—I was house-hunting and I got home twenty minutes late so I didn’t see it.
Were you trying to make it or did you just not care?
I mean, I knew that it was going to be airing, but I didn’t know what time so it was just my luck that of course the twenty minutes that it took to get back home it aired. I wanted to see it, but there were just other things happening. On the way back from house-hunting, I think the person in my car got a text message from someone that was like, “Britt on the Super Bowl, woo!”
As Tomorrowland gets closer to the release date, how do you feel about it? Is it nerve-wracking? Is it exciting? Are you worried that people are not going to like it?
Yeah, I mean that’s the scariest thing, just not having seen it and having worked on it so long. I just loved it so much and I hope that it’s good and people like it, and I hope that they go see it. But if they don’t, that’s okay too. Ideally, I like it. As long as I like it, then I can sleep at night.

Britt discusses working with George
D23 PRESENTS, STUDIOS
Tomorrowland Star Goes From Fields of Wheat to Jail
March 18, 2015 • By Jeffrey Epstein

We’ve been waiting patiently for well over a year to learn more about Tomorrowland, director Brad Bird’s epic fantasy adventure film. First we saw “the box”—chock full of items “found” in the Walt Disney Archives. Then there was The Optimist, a virtual and real-life scavenger hunt. Both of these things culminated at D23 Expo 2013 where Bird and producer Damon Lindelof broke down the contents of the box for guests, and where The Optimist’s grand finale included an immersive experience centered around Tomorrowland.
But these clues—and the since-released trailer for the May 22 release—have just kept us wanting more. So we couldn’t wait to sit down with The Optimist herself, Britt Robertson, who plays Casey Newton in the film—a young woman with a positive outlook on life, despite some odds stacked against her. She embarks on a daring adventure with a jaded scientist to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place, somewhere in time and space. Here’s a bit of what she had to say.
D23: There’s been so much mystery around the movie. What can you tell us?
A: The movie revolves around a 17-year-old optimist, whose dad works for NASA. And it’s her dream to work for NASA.
D23: Were there a lot of special effects used?
A: Funny enough, we used very little. There are some sequences where we needed to fill in the backdrops and the world of Tomorrowland where we used blue screen. But a lot of the stuff was really practical. The scene in the [film’s] trailer where I‘m hopping from the jail to the wheat field, that we all did practically. We went to interior B.C. [British Columbia]. They had grown this huge wheat field and they plopped me in the middle of it and I acted as if I had just come from the jail. And then about a month later, we went to the set of the jail and I would place my body in the exact same position I was in in the wheat field. It was very technical in the sense that my body had to be in very specific positions—and my wardrobe and my hair. So that was very challenging.
D23: What was it like seeing the trailer for the first time where you’re in the field with the fantastic city behind you?
A: They had shown me storyboards and ideas of what they were going to put in there. I had an idea in my head. But what was so crazy about it was being amongst acres and acres of all this wheat. It was beautiful and astonishing. The sun was so bright and the sky was so blue. You could see for miles. It wasn’t hard to fake. That was the point. They wanted me to be immersed in this crazy world so I could react naturally.
D23: OK, so what was it like working with George Clooney?
A: He’s such an iconic actor. There are so many ways his career has been inspiring to me. He started in television and made—what seemed to me—such a seamless transition to film. He’s had such an incredible career from acting to directing and now producing. Just to be a part of his life for those few months was so special. It’s rare that I get to be a part of people’s lives in a way that I can observe and take things from them that I wouldn’t be able to otherwise. He would think of things and say, ‘You need to work with this director.’ Talking to me about different actors he’s worked with or producing or directing and how that happened to him. It’s so cool because now I have a little insight to his world. And I’m very, very fortunate for that.
D23: Since you’ve been to Disneyland, what are your Tomorrowland favorites?
A: Space Mountain. I love that! When we were shooting in the park, they were able to give us FASTPASS-es, because, you know, it’s usually a 45-minute line! So you can only go once or twice. I was able to go on it three or four times. It was so much fun!
D23: Do you have a favorite Disney movie?
A: I really love Peter Pan. And I love The Lion King. The Lion King was the first movie I ever saw. My mom took me when I was just born so I don’t really remember that time. But it was the first movie I ever saw!
More of our interview with Britt Robertson—including her favorite George Clooney prank—is featured in the Spring 2015 issue of Disney twenty-three, available to Gold Members of D23.

Thanks Sevens for the article.
I love hearing from people who've worked
