Lakin has Serious Eye Trouble

Had this news from our Lakin this morning. I'm sure we all wish her well and send her love and prayers for her poorly eye to heal well after surgery.
Take care Lakin and we miss you already on here....

 "Hey guys, brief update.  Retina detached in my right eye.  Emergency surgery yesterday evening.  
Post op restrictions include no computer, no reading.  Won't be on forum for maybe the next 10 days.
  Off work for 30 days.  Must lay prone on right side for ten days also.  Surgery went well, but retina takes awhile to seal after laser application. 
Had to place a buckle around my eye to bind & prevent further detachment. 


 This has been a genetic thing on my dad's side.  My grandfather went blind & my dad's brother had retinal detachment.  I'm doing fine, although disheartened that it happened.  Some of my peripheral vision may not be restored, but central vision intact, thank God.

Please give Lakin my best wishes for a speedy painless recovery - tell her I said that's a tough sentence, no looking at George for 10 days (Dr must not be a fan). kisses and hugs to her. Thank you for letting us know.

Well, look at you all! Such sweet support & uplifting words. Who could ask for better!! Thank you sooooo much. I'm playing bookie as I'm not supposed to be on here, but Jo said there were so many nice posts I just had to peek! Great news from my first post op appointment - retina successfully reattached. Central vision secured. Only nine more days of laying prone on right side. Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Won't be online much as I can't risk straining my left eye. Have a great week! When I am in WV visiting family, and a funny joke gets started that makes me and one of my sisters laugh, all we have to do to laugh our heads off until we're crying is to look at each other. We really get started laughing and can't seem top stop...

Yep, I have been accused of having a vivid imagination at times, lol. We should start a fantasy thread where anyone who wants to write some funny stuff or serious fantasy thing...prolly bring out the creativeness in everybody... hahahahaha

I got an email from Lakin today and she goes back to her doc tomorrow for a post-op check. She's doing well and hopes to be back in her rare form soon! She misses us all so much and thinks we're just the cat's meow. (OK, I just added that last part)! But, we've missed her wit and wisdom!!!
