It is the Sun so not sure how true but it is a cute story:

George is Cloo-d up on funnyman Spike Milligan

GEORGE CLOONEY is hooked on SPIKE MILLIGAN’s comedy after seeing his graveyard humour.

He was shooting Second World War flick The Monuments Men in East Sussex, when co-star HUGH BONNEVILLE pointed out Spike’s headstone – with its epitaph: “I told you I was ill.”

A source said: “George and Hugh were filming a scene when Hugh mentioned Spike’s grave was nearby in the church opposite the bar.

“The message ‘I told you I was ill’ is in Irish, but when George was told what it meant he flew into a fit of laughter.”

Since seeing Spike’s humour, George has ordered a stack of old Goon Show recordings from Spike’s heyday, plus his seven volumes of war memoirs.

Spike’s not the only British institution George has worked up an appetite for since he started filming the war movie alongside pal MATT DAMON.

He loved staying at the Pontins resort while filming and has been wolfing down fish and chips and ploughman’s lunches.
