Could be and that is why he is so quiet. We often find out right at the end or when he is back.

According to twitter, he is currently in the Sudan and will be in Washington on March 14.

“The Sudanese army’s choke point just 45 kilometers, or 28 miles, north of the Yida refugee camp in South Sudan shows that the estimated 200,000 civilians in the Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan are cut off from receiving humanitarian aid and from fleeing to UN refugee camps in South Sudan," said John Prendergast, Enough Project Co-founder..
"Now is the time for the US and the international community to deliver a cross-border humanitarian aid operation to break the blockade the regime has created, which threatens the lives of thousands of Nuba civilians,” said Prenderast.

What a very tough time everybody's having out there. Ann Curry's report on NBC a couple of weeks ago showed the devastation caused to innocent people trying to live a normal life in already very dangerous and tough conditions.

A young American called Ryan Boyette has stayed in the Nuba mountains for the last eight years, because he married a girl who lived there, and is now reporting back via satellite-backed laptop on what conditions are like there on the ground via Twitter. It would be great to think they had linked up.

Satellite Sentinel is such a power for good, but it must seem such a very, very long job for all concerned

okay...so... a few hours ago i prayed for him for him to have a safe trip and he's partying in cabo???

Who knows i saw a man that looked a lot like him earlier today while i was out only he was several feet away, I am slightly nearsighted( I only wear glasses to drive) in the parking lot and he had a moustache... could I say "OMG i think i just saw george" actually i got in my car thinking he just looked a lot like him

I'm confused....

A woman tweeted that he saw George in LA on 9th March so maybe he flew back then later has flown on to Cabo.

The tweet from the guy who spotted him in Sudan works for the BBC. So he may have intentionally delayed his tweet to ensure that G and those travelling with him have left the area before advertising that he was there.

If he is in Cabo, maybe a trip with the boys?? He doesn't seem to have the normal company.....

George Clooney, John Prendergast Visit South Sudan
News from Sudan Radio Service
08 March 2012—(Juba) —American human right activist, John Prendergast and holly wood movie star, George Clooney arrived South Sudan on Wednesday.

The duo is in the country to assess the current situation of the country as the world’s newest nation, particularly border issues with the Sudan.

John Prendergast spoke to SRS upon their arrival at Juba international airport Wednesday.

[John Prendergast]: “We are here to do an assessment of the current situation, particularly on the border and to look at the ways that we could be supportive of the world’s newly independent country. We want to go back to the United States- to Washington DC and New York and communicate to our officials the urgency of some of the challenges here in South Sudan and with its neighboring Sudan. So, it is really about supporting the new state and about finding ways to help support peace efforts in the region.”

The two are also members of the Satellite Sentinel Project, a network of private spy satellites and analysts.
The satellites snap pictures of military activities against civil populations.

Images of the results of bombing of villages in the Abyei region in May 2011, which resulted in the displacement of 30,000 people, as well as pictures of the movement of northern artillery and thousands of troops in Kurmuk in Blue Nile state were captured by the satellite.

Soudan and Cabo right after ? That's some crazy schedule, if he'd had to go to Soudan right after the Oscars and the prop 8 play, and then he'd have to prepare for next week hearing... I seriously don't know how he does it ! But good for him to keep busy with so much great projects

Maybe that is why he is Cabo so he can prepare then go to Washington. Could be a boys only trip. Clearly someone wants us to know she is still in LA.

The guy who spotted him in South Sudan is the Editor of the Africa unit of the BBC. I would think a journalist who works for a press organisation of their calibre would be certain about a sighting before tweeting it. One can only hope this guy didn't fangirl the way Ann Curry did.

Martin Plaut(BBC World Service for Africa) was not over-enthusiastic about George's arrival and behaviour in S Kodafan (see his twitter) but was informed by someone else that he just happens to have been a UN MOP for ten years!

All the sightings probably probably reflect the time difference between LA/Cabo and the Sudan........

I think the Cabo tweet is wrong. Usually George and John stop in DC or New York right after their trip. Doesn't give your mission / testimony much gravitas or urgency if you go on vacation in between.

I'd be surprised too. George is much too savvy about image to risk taking a vacation between the two. He wouldn't want a senator calling him out in a hearing with a "Can't be too important if you had time to go to the beach before coming here".

Remember a few years back when he said he would have people call in locations all over the place so no one really knew where he was? It was a response to that stalker type site where people would tweet or whatever, whenever they "saw" a celebrity. My mind might not be remembering exactly right, but something like that. CRS!!! Since it's so scary in Sudan, maybe people are tweeting from other places to take the focus off him in Sudan.

The timing is what makes the Cabo tweet look funny. It takes ages to get from the Sudan. Could be someone a little drunk seeing someone she thought was George. He takes his role seriously and I agree stopping at a beach for a few days wouldn't look good. He is probably heading straight to Washington from there. We may find out! Or we might not.

I think the sightings will happen as soon as he lands in NYC or Washington. I hope that Nick and Nina can make the trip to Washington and spend some time with George.
