SPRING AHEAD!!!!
Here in the good ol' USA, except those living in Arizona, it's time to spring forward with your clocks tonight before you go to bed. Move your microwave, stove, VCR/DVR, wall clock, alarm clock, clock/radio, watches and car clocks forward one hour. If you need help, call me, as I'm really good a resetting clocks, forward and back!!!!

I believe that was the OTHER thread we were talking about those! However, that does remind me, change your batteries in your smoke detectors (and other necessary devices)!!!!Joanna wrote:You're a couple of weeks in front of us in UK.

Yes, it's that time of year again and makes me realize how many clocks are in our homes. I still resent losing that one hour. My smoke detector is hard wired and doesn't need batteries and I wonder why carbon monoxide alarm batteries have to be changed then. The one I have lets me know when batteries are dead, it rings and sounds like a train. Scares the hell out of me.

Re: SPRING AHEAD!!!!
So agree Cindi! Love Fallback as you get an extra hour to sleep but hate Spring forward...except I do like having more daylight later in the day. Wish I could get you to pop by and change my car clock. Have had the car since 2003 and yet, it still beats me every time when I sit down to try and change it. It's permanently set to Fall Back time

Re: SPRING AHEAD!!!!
I'm trying Joanna! Can change my own oil but not that clock! It's a sneaky little guy. Every time I think I've done it, it reverts back. Every once in a while I get it to work...but thatconguses everyone because they're used to my car being an hour behind for 6 months!

Re: SPRING AHEAD!!!!
Maybe you can try this Oof. I always had trouble changing my car digital clock but learned that when you select 'change hour' scroll up or down to the hour you want and hit 2 times. It worked on my car, hope it works on yours.

Interestingly, I DID wake up at 2 am! Turned around and went right back to sleep then slapped the alarm when it rang at 4 am. My normal wake up time but today it was 3 am. Aaarrgghhhh!!

Long, long ago in far away galaxy, when I used to work as a bartender I really liked this night. Made it easier to get the barflys and drunks to go home!
Oh, and just some info for those of you who still go out clubbing...
Trust me, the bartenders and waitresses at your local pub or club are NOT happy that you want to extend last call one more time! They're tired, their feet hurt and they still have another hour or so clean up AFTER you drag your asses out!
So be kind to your servers! Tip well and get the fuck out when it's time to close! They WILL thank you!
This has been a public service announcement! Brahahaha!!

Re: SPRING AHEAD!!!!
Usually in bed by 10. That's why I have to film Scandal and watch it the next day. Except lately the cast has been tweeting during both the East and West coast feeds, so I figure if they're being that dedicated to the show then I can take the time to watch it at their broadcast time. And with the tweets it makes it even more interesting because the cast gives live commentary about what's just happened on the screen.
But I've digressed - yay it's Spring! We lost an hour of sleep! Yay! Not!

Re: SPRING AHEAD!!!!
Happy Mothers Day - its my turn in May this year.
On another note, Melbourne is set to break a record of 10 or 11 days in the same month with temperatures above 30 degrees and nights above 20, all this and its Autumn now. Our clocks change at the end of the month so no more late nights spent eating outside, oh well will enjoy it while it lasts.

Thank you theminis.
We had two lovely warm sunny spring days last week and I sat outside with a cuppatea feeling the sun on my body.
It's now gone very cold, east wind and snow flurries but sunshine.
Roll on Spring and Summer !

Well today we broke our record of 8 consecutive days over 30 degrees (37-38 again tomorrow). I want rain/thunder/lightning and cool nights please. On the plus side we all have a great tan.

Oh dear, that sounds hot. We're happily in the late 20s, touching over to 30 degrees every now and then. Humid, though.

Yep it is hot and unusually humid at times. Apparently a cool change is coming tomorrow morning and it will be mid to late 20's again. If it wasn't for the pool in our backyard, would have melted by now!

Re: SPRING AHEAD!!!!
This Celsius thing is so confusing for us backward Americans!
We were up to about 79F here in Hell A.
So 37-38 C would be about 100 degrees F...
And late 20s C (which I'm going to guess about 28 C) would be about 82 F
And our 79 F is about 26 C but it's not humid here.
We did have an earthquake today. Luckily I didn't feel it cause it was about 100 miles SE of Los Angeles (about 160 kilometers)0
The news reported that it was 5.1 initially then they lowered it to 4.7 - but still enough to shake stuff off store shelves.
So spring is definitely here - just hope we don't have the hot summer we had last year! Geesh, it was just an oven here in LA for way too many days!!

I know the Fahrenheit thing confuses me - I just know that without aircon I wouldn't be coping at all. Earthquake, now that's scary - I know I wouldn't be living anywhere near the San Andreas Fault!

I live near LA and I HATE earthshakes. Im not superstitious but I say earthshakes so I dont jinx myself! At least when a tornado passes by, you can go somewhere to be protected, and you have time ahead to do it. Earthshakes are like "Surprise, you're instantly f*cked". I pray everyday so there are none where I am.

Ooh, I was watching Nat Geo programme about mega earthquakes, where they looked into the earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan two years ago.
Really, really scary stuff.

Oh did you pick the right phrase! Worst one was Northridge for me. I actually got sick from the rolling waves when they got to my town. It was like riding on a very rocky boat with no way to get off! Awful! And then it was pitch black outside because the electricity went so not only were there no lights in the homes, the street lights were out and since it hit about 4 am ish in the morning, it was also the darkest part of the night. I don't even think there was a moon out! So that part was really, really scary!
My building at work is built on rollers which is the newer construction for earthquakes but it sure sucks when one hits cause the building literally moves from side to side during the shaking. I guess that's better than falling down but damn that really sucks - the quake will be over but the building is still settling. Weirdest feeling!
And the worst is trying to decide if it's worse to dive under the desk and be eternally hazed by co-workers for being a sissy or not diving and potentially getting squashed by the floors above. Decisions, decisions! HA!
