August: Osage County

I discovered last night that you can buy this play from Amazon. I downloaded it to my Kindle and spent my New Year's Eve getting very excited for the film! It's especially fun to read knowing who's playing each part.

The play is amazing, and I really can't wait to see Meryl Streep sink her teeth into this role. They may as well just engrave next year's Best Actress Award now, because this has Oscar-bait written all over it. The character is a drug addicted, narcissistic, cruel, funny, profane woman whose family comes to take care of her when her husband goes missing. There's infidelity, incest, suicide, alcoholism, divorce, lots and lots of arguing, and it's funny. If there's anyone else here who's seen or read the play, or haven't done either but don't mind spoilers, I'd love to discuss it!

Is it written in a play format? I always find those harder to read than regular books because I never pay attention to who's saying what.

It is written as a play, and there are parts where several people are speaking at once, having different conversations, that can be difficult to follow, but the way it lined up on the kindle you could read one conversation through then go back and read the next. Made it slightly easier, and it only happened twice.

This is 128pgs. and it came in Word, just make sure you save it in the format that you use. I always save in 'Word 97-2003 so that it is also compatible with my older computer. I keep most of my data and pictures on 'flash drives' so that I can move to whatever computer I will be using. You can 'Google anything, sometimes it is good and other times you do not find anything.
