Yay! The first of the awards begin.
Is anyone else concerned that the 'big' awards are going elsewhere? Methinks George is going to have a lonely Oscar shelf next year.

I thought that too. I had never heard of the Zero Dark Thirty film and now it is all over the place. I have also been hearing from some friends who got to see Les Miz---that it is wonderful.

Re: ARGO: National Board of Review
I truly think that Argo is going to be nominated, however, some of the others coming out are definitely getting more hype. Just depends on the Academy people... cuz as we know, they don't always vote for the "popular" kids!

Re: ARGO: National Board of Review
Seems like timing also plays a part in awards as well. I don't know when Zero came out but wonder if it was after Argo? Silver Linings was after Argo premiered and so was Django. They must follow the newer is better premise or vote for the last movies they've seen?
OofOof- Clooney-love. And they said it wouldn't last

Re: ARGO: National Board of Review
Have to say nice to see Bigelow win for producing. It's sadly rare for women to win Producer or Director. Didn't she win Director or Producer for Hurt Locker?

Yes she did Oof. Remember Elisabetta wore the zipper-broke red dress and didn't stand when everyone was clapping for Kathryn?

So they simply didn't mention it or did they say dump on the movie?

Re: ARGO: National Board of Review
I guess I should have clarified myself. Sorry. The film, the actors, the director, nobody was nominated for anything or awarded anything.OofOof wrote:So they simply didn't mention it or did they say dump on the movie?

Re: ARGO: National Board of Review
Interesting. The next big awards are the Golden Globes, SAG awards and of course the Oscars. I assume it will be nominated for the Golden Globes....they love A-listers. He wouldn't go to the SAGs because that is just for the Actors. It could get a Best Picture nom at the Oscars.
I am sure there are other awards---what am I missing?

Re: ARGO: National Board of Review
They'll have the Producer's Guild and Director's Guild Awards, but they're not broadcast. The Globes, SAG and Oscars are the biggies, I think. And, of course, there's all the Film Critic Award from all the different cities, but they are just announced as I don't think anyone ever goes to them.
