Re: Animals?
as y'all know, I do free photoshoots for anyone that spays, adopts or rescues an animal. Here are a couple from a shoot this weekend. In one image, the owner was talking to her dog and he looked up at her and smiled, and I got it! The other was taken after the shoot, when the lady and I were sitting on her porch talking, and I put the camera in one hand and lowered it to the floor without the dog having any idea of what I was doing. I know these are big (sorry) but I dont want to mess my collection by resizing some, and not others and then forgetting which are and are not!

Re: Animals?
that video was great, brought back memories. When I was little my grandpa, who lived in northern Wisconsin, would take us to the neighbors potato farm at dusk. We would sit until it got dark out and then my grandpa would turn on the headlights and there would be (what seemed like) hundreds of pairs of eyes reflecting back at us. It was creepy and cool

The arthritic dog who became an internet sensation after picture of his owner soothing him in a lake went viral has died a month after he turned 20.
John Unger, owner of Schoep the German Shepherd, announced his pet's death by posting a photograph of a pawprint in the sand on Facebook with the caption: 'I breathe but I can't catch my breath'.
Underneath the picture, which gained 24,000 likes and 49,000 comments within hours, he wrote simply: 'Schoep passed yesterday. More information in the days ahead.'

Re: Animals?
It's like the beautiful story my dad would tell me of faithful Hachiko, who waited for his owner for 9 years after he passed away.
There's even a statue in his memory in Japan.

A dog’s love towards his family is unconditional, and a classic example of this is Hachiko, an Akita dog who was born in 1923 in Japan. He was adopted by an agricultural professor who took him home and took on the role as his new owner. Both of them formed a very special bond.
Hachiko
During their time together, the professor would take a train ride home each working day and be greeted by Hachiko at the train station. Hachiko would sit and wait for the professor at the end of each working day, without fail. The pair continued this daily ritual until sadly one day the professor suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage (brain bleed), and passed away, never to return to the train station again where his beloved companion was waiting.
For the next nine years, Hachiko attracted the attention of many people far and wide as each day, without fail, he would visit the train station as normal and wait for his owner, hoping to see his best friend step off the train and greet him once again.
Hachiko passed away in 1935, aged 11 years. A movie was released in 2009 based on the story of Hachiko and the professor, called Hachi.

This is an amazing video. So glad everything worked out.
I stopped watching nature shows because they were always focused on the gore of animals killing other animals. Why don't they show stuff like this?

Plenty of lovely animal vids on YouTube mosaic to enjoy.
I know what you mean, but they all have to kill to eat and I'm sure nature keeps a balance.
I HATE poachers though.

...but I'd rather watch nature shows on a TV than the stupid computer that I seem to be tied to...one wouldn't know that animals show compassion to other animals by the focus on violence of those shows!Joanna wrote:Plenty of lovely animal vids on YouTube mosaic to enjoy.

Yes, I'm with you on the balance of nature--every animal has an enemy to keep the populations in check. But I used to be a vegetarian because I didn't want to eat animals. I became really sick, though, and was advised to go back to eating meat. I really hated to do it, so I compromised by giving extra thanks for the animal that gave its life for me to live.
I hate poachers, too. I was thinking "how could anyone destroy them for their tusks?" when watching the video.
I don't go to zoos anymore, either. I wouldn't want to be caged, so why do it to them?
