Brad Pitt advertising Chanel #5. What's that all about?

Have you guys seen Brad Pitt's ad for Chanel?

With a deliciously soothing voice reminiscent of thick, velvety chocolate, a brooding Pitt says: "It's not a journey. Every journey ends, but we go on. The world turns and we turn with it. Plans disappear, dreams take over, but wherever I go, there you are: my luck; my fate; my fortune. Chanel No.5, inevitable."

I'm not sure I really get it. Maybe it's just because I'm convinced Brad doesn't smell all that nice that I can't really equate him with expensive perfume.

Now, George on the other hand . . . !

True it is weird....but he does have 6 kids to put through college...

I always think it's unfair that celebrities (who have so much money already) get to do the product endorsements when there are no many other models or actresses who could really use the extra money.

But that's my opinion and I'm sticking by it. LOL

Think it's great that more stars are doing TV ads in English that are on American TV. It's about damn time! Come on George Julia's done it, now Brad, you should be next. Brad gives away 10 million a year, so if he makes 7 for this ad he's only got to come up with 3 for this year.

IMO It's a good idea and the companies can well afford those fees.

The ad's message is well written and Pitt's delivery is smooth and inviting. Pitt's appearance compliments the tone of the ad...because it is as if he is posing as a Modern Day Knight.

Pitt's delivery is smooth and his appearance would compliment a homeless man.

The message I got from this is 'It doesn't matter how good you look as long as you smell good.' LOL

I have to be honest, it doesn't work for me either.

SNL did a parody of Brad's commercial but so far haven't been able to find a free site that has it. The You Tube sites want you to click onto another site then download a bunch of stuff before you can see it. No thanks don't need anything else mucking up the works.

But if anyone more computer savvy than me can find and post it - that would be great!

Just watched the video, and as unkempt as brad can be these days i have a bit of a problem with him as spokesman. He actually looks decent enough in the commercial but it just doesn't make much sense, its just weird. I love chanel #5 (btw- anyone remember the chanel our mothers wore and feel chanel changed the formula slightly? i swear it doesn't smell the same ) but that commercial sure doesn't make me want to buy it.

iamnoone--you're so right about Chanel being different now than it was with our Mom's era. My Mom wore Chanel #5 and I have a warm spot in my heart for it but it just doesn't smell the same. Wonder if it's preservatives?
