The entertainment website Vulture.com has created a ranking of celebrities in various categories, taking into consideration criteria such as domestic and international box office, Oscars, likeability, critics' scores, magazine covers, and tabloid value. Here's where George falls on each list:

Most Respected: #3 (behind only Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep)

Tabloid Targets: #16 (Brad, Angie and Jen are three of the top four - no surprise)

George Clooney is a movie star. And not just any movie star: He’s one of the biggest the town has to offer, despite a dearth of blockbuster breakouts on his resume. Still, that doesn’t seem to bother him too much, nor does it bother studios. He’s the sort of actor who recalls Hollywood’s golden age, and he prefers to be picky with material, mixing up his resume with unique choices like Syriana and Coen Brothers films rather than always reaching for the sure thing. One thing I found interesting: If the only measure is likeability, George ranks 30th, after people like Jason Statham, Mila Kunis, and Mark Wahlberg. That seems low for a guy everyone is always praising as "The Mayor of Hollywood".

i think the list made about the money films bring but the way they wrote about GC was describing him as unique star not a blockbuster as the list seems based on .

Each list is created by giving a different amount of weight to the varying factors. You can even play with them yourself to see how George moves up and down the list. If you take off everything but Tabloid Value, he comes up 20th (which I thought was high, actually). If you only look at box office, he's way down. Looking just at Oscars and Critic ratings, he moves up close to the top again. It's kind of fun to play with.
