George Clooney and Julia Roberts were already a formidable team in "Ocean's Eleven," but now the A-list pals are partnering up to sue two companies who allegedly used their famous mugs to sell luxury home entertainment systems and equipment.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney and Roberts are suing two audiovisual companies (Digital Projection, Inc. and Beyond Audio) for using the stars' photographs and trademarked names on places like the companies' homepage and pamphlets -- without their consent.
The lawsuit, which was filed April 27 in Los Angeles, states:
"Defendants prominently used large photographs of Plaintiffs in Defendants' advertising, marketing and promotions including print advertisements published in numerous magazines over the past several months …
Accordingly, Defendants are liable to Plaintiffs for the infringement of their publicity rights, privacy rights, and trademark rights."
Clooney is no stranger to lawsuits protecting his intellectual property rights. In May 2011, "The Descendants" star saw justice served when three Italian men who Photoshopped his face onto another man's body for a clothing line (unironically named "GC Exclusive") were convicted of fraud and sentenced to jail time.
