GH - Yes, what a great man! Cool, low key, humble.
Very pleasant demeanor. Just the vibe I get observing him.
LH seems so supportive too.
They must really love each other. That's the backbone to a good marriage.

Re: Grant Heslov
A couple of years ago, I tried to get an interview with Mr. Heslov for the paper I write for. The American was doing quite well, and I thought this might entice the local theater owner to play it on his screens, but it never panned out. I should have tried when he was selling The Men Who Stare At Goats, since he directed it. Anyway, that's life. I am sure he would have done it, but he was probably busy. Somebody has to work in their office. LOL. OK, that was mean. We all know they both work equally. (Wink! Wink!)
As for Lysa Heslov, I think her work is admirable. I am now shifting my career focus from journalism to social work. I really want to help kidney patients, more particularly dialysis patients, since I was on dialysis for a year and five months. In fact, I just got accepted to graduate school for social work.

I love Taurus's; I find their intellect to be challenging and it keeps me sharp
Lysa seems to be the perfect match for Grant. Now if Lysa and Grant can balance like they do, why does George have trouble finding a woman who can compliment his lifestyle. Surely she's out there.

Re: Grant Heslov
Lucky Grant has Lysa then.
George must feel sad & empty that something so important lacking in his own life.
If he had seen someone out there & he'd have feelings for her he'd be with her instead of no substance pretence.
Some people know instantly. Like his father did & within months married His life partner Nina....
But George hasn't found someone for whom he feels love like that. Like Grant & Lysa or Nick & Nina.
Debbie said, "compliment his lifestyle." Not love or moulding her into that role. No, conditions are set. That's not love.

Re: Grant Heslov
If George choose to be married he would be, not saying at times he might get lonely. But you can be married and have a house full of people around you and still be lonely.
George is living the kind of life he wants to everyone looks for different things in life. That does not make any of our ways right or wrong. I could have very easily missed being married. If and when he wants marriage than he will change his life. We have no right to tell him that he should do this or that. You just love him for who he is a magnificent human being. JMHO

Re: Grant Heslov
I never married...recently I bumped into an old school friend she say "Sure you never took a husband...can you believe it?"
I replied I had "taken" several, and given them back in better condition than I got them in....(heard it somewhere can't take the credit)
Marriage shouldn't be an expectation in life...why? If it happens then that's great ....but it's like Christmas some are better than others. AND at the end of the day "we were put here to be HAPPY (make OURSELVES happy) not expect someone else to do it for us" ..I know it sounds a selfish concept...but incredibly hard to do
for women esp; JMO.....X Happy and Single

Re: Grant Heslov
I agree, most of my friends are married or in a long term relations ship and / or have children. I'm the rare version who enjoys the single life (But not like George LOL). I always get asked "And...when do you find you Man?"....And if I think about when I visit my family....oh dear.....Don't know why so many people expect marriage to happen in life. Not everyone needs to have this piece of paper to enjoy a good relationship. I'm sure George figured that out by now....But I would love to see him in a more serious and stable relationship

Re: Grant Heslov
My point was about the special bond between Nick & Nina or Grant & Lysa. What seems to be true, supportive, blissful love & happiness. A perfect balance, unity .... Hence, that kind of marriage.
Many people settle & compromise. I won't. Just like WWHS & Nicky.
I'm a runaway groom a couple times over.
Most marriages end in divorce because people just settle.
And, yes, you can feel more lonely in an incompatible marriage than being alone.
My point was that George obviously never found/ met/ saw a woman to love intensely & want to share his life in the same way that Nick or Grant or even Matt Damon did....
Maybe he yearns for that as he seems romantic. If he had found someone he loved, he'd be with her by now & probably feeling complete. His other half, so to speak.
But he obviously hasn't...

Oh, & I don't mean "soul mates" as other half, to you cynics.
I mean, another human with whom we're happily in love who makes us feel complete.
I don't know if soul mates exist. But I've never met one.

So yes they do exist....maybe thats why I've always felt kinda whole as I am. I have been sooo lucky.
You will know a soul mate when you meet one....It's somebody who makes you laugh more than anything....but who bring you to tears like nothing else in the world. IMO.
I hope you experience it soon.

Well, this conversation could turn into a philosophical entity all it's own. I love philosophy but results from it can lead to many replies of agreeing to disagree so I'll end it with just that. Could be a good grind tho . . .

Now if everything we sought answers for were searched online, there would be no discussions on this forum, and I, for one, really enjoy the interactions of my virtual friends here. Plus, this forum is like taking a bunch of internet retrivals of information and combining them in this centralized location, and I also appreciate that!

Re: Grant Heslov
Not much info available on Lysa. Mainly about Mending Hearts charity.
She's from Savannah, same age as Grant & was an indie music producer prior to marrying him.
As for Grant, his friendship with George goes way back to 1982. Apparently Grant lent him $200 for his head shots at the time & George remained forever grateful. Solid friendship.
Re: soulmates - well, maybe it's like a strong magnetic pull you cannot control. Often "feeling" or thinking about them, synchronized or parrallel thoughts....not sure how to explain.... Too confusing for me.

I like your quote Picachu. I agree that marraige isnt about finding someone to make you happy. Marraige is just about sharing and accepting your partner for what he/she is. True, we have to make our own happiness in life. And I didnt have babies until I was married almost 8 years. Then divorced after 12 years. But I tried. And your quote really hit home with me about giving them back in better condition!
