George Clooney surprised Beverly Hills locals and visiting tourists earlier today when he was spotted shooting a Mercedes-Benz commercial not too far off Rodeo Drive. Clooney's back in LA following his Summer abroad where he relaxed with friends at his Lake Como estate and debuted The Ides of March in Venice and Toronto film festivals. George's busy schedule hasn't kept him from getting more serious with his lady. George stepped out with new girlfriend Stacy Keibler at TIFF and even introduced her to his close friend Bono. Meanwhile, back in LA his ex, Elisabetta Canalis, is prepping for her own major debut of sorts when she takes the stage on next week's premiere of Dancing With the Stars. Stacy's also linked to DWTS and took home a third place finish in 2006.

The 50-year-old actor was swarmed by adoring fans as he took breaks from filming the advertisement.

Ryan Gosling recently spoke to USA Today about his The Ides of March co-star.

“George Clooney is having a better time than you are - you being everyone,” Ryan said. “Everybody in the world, no matter how much fun they think they are having, George Clooney is having more fun.”

Rumors have been swirling all over Twitter Friday claiming that George Clooney was at the Beverly Hills hotspot Villa Blanca, owned by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump, shooting an episode of the Bravo TV show.

Like with many rumors — only part this one is true!

RumorFix spoke exclusively to one of the managers of Villa Blanca who told us that gorgeous George was indeed filming at the restaurant but not for the reality show. (BTW we never believed that rumor)

Instead, the A-list movie star, wearing a beautiful black suit and button-down white shirt, was shooting a Mercedes commercial that will air in China. And as you can see in these pictures, the self-proclaimed prankster sure knows how to have a good time on the set.

How much coin is he making with all the ads recently? Nepresso and Omega have been around years. Previously in ads for Fiat, Martini, Toyota and others I can't remember or locate on Youtube. Now current campaigns with Fastweb in Italy, a bank in the netherlands ( I think - I didn't pay much attention because the ad was so cute) and now Mercedes for China. I know the films don't make much cash for him anymore and he probably covers the cost of the production company if they don't break even but really, so many? I guess now that everything goes online, when he is doing ads for international markets, we hear about it.

Sidenote - If anyone watched the Vicar of Dibley back in the day and remembers the dim assistant to Dawn French's character, she is now in an ad for a magazine where in the commercial they name check George. it made me smile (especially the texting line) but then, my standards are not too high with advertising.

LOL I loved her in the Vicar of Dibley. Nice add, crap magazine though we have it over here I don't like but my sister loves it. I think the commercials are covering his costs for his movies and everything else he is involved with. He is also producing a couple too and all takes money.

Didn't Gio use to ride motorcycles with George, and there was an accident where he was hurt, George even mentioned learning first aid skills from Nina had helped him while waiting for help. Gio is like family, wonder if he'll ever retire?

Gio, like all George's "retainers" in treated like a family member and gives and receives the loyalty of family. As to whether he'll ever retire, you don't retire from family. Perhaps from being an active bodyguard, yes, but from protecting George, no.
