George Clooney still upset at losing out on Thelma & Louise role

George Clooney is still upset at losing a role to Brad Pitt in Thelma & Louise.

In the 1991 hit film Pitt played JD, a robber out on parole who steals from the title characters, in a part that became his breakout role.

But in a light-hearted moment in a Q&A session at the Telluride Film Festival, Clooney revealed he had gone for the part, too.

“The funniest thing is, I didn’t watch that movie for a long time,” the actor-director told The Hollywood Reporter.

“I was really stuck doing a lot of bad TV at that time. And I had auditioned and auditioned, and it got right down to Brad and I, and he got it. And I just couldn’t watch that movie for a couple of years.”

But he said he now realizes the right man won the part.

“When I saw it, I thought actually that was the right choice,” he added. “He was really good in it, and I would have f---ed it up somehow.”
