Venice is flooded again, for the second time within one week. It seems surreal that me and my family walked around these streets and squares exactly one month ago.

Yes very very sad when we know that they are so near to finishing the flood barrier!

It's amazing that any of us hasn't finished since we've been reminded that the holidays are coming since the summer! Hallmark Channel has been showing Christmas movies since August! (I stopped watching the channel when they did that. IMO it spoils things to drag it out for months like that. It makes the holidays less special.)

Besides, it's too soon' to start worrying about Christmas. ll be happy just to get through Thanksgiving intact!

Nope, haven't started shopping yet. I will start on Black Friday. I will be shopping on line , I can't stand all the crowds and craziness.

A neighbour close by has a cat that keeps getting into trouble.... he/she is either not very bright or accident prone.... I habitually help the poor beast, stuck on a window sill or under the bonnet of a running car... but it’s getting to the stage ... I’m done !

So last night the owner called to my door, I didn’t answer, he knew I was in but I just let him keep knocking and did not answer the door ...

A tad guilty over the tabby? Yes. A tad proud of myself? absolutely .... saying no! is the hardest greatest achievement of my life ....

For anyone who loves musical theater, PBS has been rebroadcasting the 25th anniversary concert of "Les Miserables". It's airing again tonight on NY's Ch. 21 at 8PM. If you have the time, it's well worth watching - or even just listening to in the background while you go about doing other things. I saw it on Ch. 13 the other night and will probably "watch" it again tonight.

(Interesting aside: Nick Jonas sings the part of Marius. I'm curious to hear what others think of his performance.)

I hope you enjoy it. I did! Sorry, but I haven't seen "Harriet" - or any other recent movie. Just haven't had the time. Did you see it? If you did, what did you think?

Yes Lizzy I saw Harriet.  I've never seen this period of history portrayed in this manner.  I'm going to take my parents to see it.

The movie obviously made a big impression on you. What made it worth seeing more than once?

I always knew Harriet Tubman was a part of the underground rail road.  I had NO idea how BIG her role was.  I've never read her journey was led by God, as documented in the movie.  I think that left the biggest impression.  If you see it, I would love to know what you think.  I hope others will weigh in if they saw the movie.

Curious. Whatever happened to that contest to win a meal with
G&A? Did it ever happen? I don't remember seeing anything about it after the contest announcement. (Doesn't mean it didn't happen. Just that I CRS! )

Thanks, PAN. For some reason it just popped into my head and I realised I didn't remember what had happened. Everyone looks happy in the photo, so I guess they had a good time. Wonder what they had for lunch and if they met the twins.
