No Venice...but plenty of Clooney
Hello peeps.....I'm back from Italy....I trusted my gut and didn't go to Venice at the time of George's premier....but a few days later I ended up at the Mother premier!
Suffice to say Venice loves George FULL STOP!!!! He can do no wrong there, love is a much overused word but not as far as Italy and George Clooney are concerned....I hope it's a two way street, I can only speak for the great Nation that is Italy, I can't speak for Clooney....If he wants, if he chooses, there will always be sanctuary for George in Italy ALL corners....He is like a goldfish his charisma fills the entire Country.....Everywhere I went, people had an interest, an opinion on the movie on George...Not so much on the family(strange)....
It was easy to engage in conversation, I only had to sit in a cafe with a newspaper open on his pic...and verbal diarrhoea would start in broken english...and sometimes in just gestures, no words the broad smiles told the story....the gripping of the heart a little extreme...but thats Italy....
I didn't go simply because I didn't want to....It hurt me to say it....But I have to be honest and say that I was glad I wasn't there to witness the 4 day event it became.....George! if your reading this please remember LESS IS MORE.....
One red carpet, one news conference...job done, my friend....for a while it looked like you were trying to create VENICE FASHION WEEK ON WATER....Not cool, many actors, directors and movies at the festival, it kinda felt like you were hi-jacking the event .....to push professional and personal agenda's....it lost parity of esteem....no level playing field...not cool......
Just because you can...doesn't mean you should.....
Having said that EVERYONE I spoke to who had seen George's Movie LOVED it......AND believe me the Venice audience is a hard one I was shocked, horrified at the end of Mother there were BOOS!!!!!!! Again not cool, I hope the cast and crew could not hear.....
People I spoke with said George got a good response .....NO BOOS....
My gut tells me he should maybe do a bit of a re-brand....I wish a perfect irresistible script would land on his desk....I want him back where he belongs on the screen....I feel his best work may never happen if someone doesn't kick his back side.....I said in one of the threads that Oscar Isaacs in one of the trailers looked like George Clooney 2.1......As a movie goer I don't want an imitation George...
Yes, we all change, and change is good...if you embrace it....If you feel you can't play the young offender....Play the older wiser cop....It's a trade off.... that might be worth making....
While I was away my country man had a bat in the house ....it does happen here in the summer....I thought you might like the laugh....or as a neighbour of mine said "Sure for God Almighty's sake, why has this gone F ing viral"....they saw no joke...I love the bit at the end where he said "the dog got a fright and he pissed himself, how would you blame him?"....."He's like McGregor he's got no legs left"....:D:D
Now this would make it big in Venice....

WWHS - LOL! Thanks for the video. Reminds me of the time my boss came to work with a black eye from chasing a bat out of his daughter's bedroom. Supposedly, he tripped and banged his head on her dresser. Personally, I think his wife clocked him!
I'm glad you had a good trip although I wish you could have seen George. You know, I think he is rebranding himself - as a writer, director and producer. I think he's just vain enough to not want to see himself aging on screen unless the role is something exceptional. Besides, I think he wants to spend more time with the twins and doing his philanthropic work.

Hi Sevens...No I chose not to see Suburbicon.....I accompanied a friend to Mother....Mother wasn't a deliberate choice, just right place right time....
If I had chosen to go to Suburbicon premier I may well have embarrassed myself....OR worse embarrassed Mr C......

* George loomed LARGE in Venice....by way of his entourage.....
I'm sure he has no idea how many people it takes to put on The Clooney Show.......
* You may be very right....I don't see it that way...He said himself kids were never in his DNA....I know that feeling.....It's not that I don't care...I do too much....AND that is stressful, very very stressful.....
I would give my life for a child in a heartbeat, No QUESTION....but don't put me in a room for longer than 2.56 minutes....unless they are asleep....My friends say the Sun is ageing, I say not half as much as A Son.....or Daughter.....
I think the next few years will be interesting......and entertaining......
