Ok after so many rumors about the wedding date and location let's start now wit the best man

George Clooney has asked Matt Damon to be his best man.


The 53-year-old star proposed to his girlfriend Amal Alamuddin last month and although rumours had suggested he was planning to ask Brad Pitt to be his best man, it's now been revealed that he's chosen his The Monuments Men co-star instead.


A source told The Sun newspaper: "A lot of people thought Brad was a certainty to be George's best man as they have been such good friends for years. But he is probably even closer to Matt.


"Besides many years ago, during one drunken night together, George made a promise to Matt that he would make him his best man if he ever got married - so Matt called to claim his prize."


However, as 50-year-old Brad worked with Matt, 43, and George on Ocean's Eleven and it's sequels, it's thought that the hunk will be there to support both of his pals.


The source added: "Brad took the news with good grace - but he did say he'd heckle Matt during his speech."


Meanwhile, George is reportedly planning to throw his British lawyer fiancée the wedding of her dreams either at his home in Lake Como, Italy or Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, before relocating to London so that she can continue her work as a barrister at the Doughty Street Chambers.

i voted for one of the boys, cant see it being Matt, yes they are friends but he has friends for a lot longer and Richard/Thom/Grant seem to be the longest (i think)

I called BS on this story too. The best man should be one of the boys, a long time friend. If Matt is the best man I would be disappointed and think he was trying to drum up as much publicity as possible.

I would think either Grant or Rande. Yes, Dad could be a contender. Matt does not seem to be in George's inner circle.

I'm curious. Is it common for the groom's father to be best man? I've never seen that.

Think, who is it that most likely are the ones that go out to dinner or what ever on double dates. How many have Cindy and Rande been on with HOW many different ladies? It has to be Rande even though I thought different before. xx

Not common but a friend of ours did ask his Dad to be his best man, his Dad was elderly and had been waiting a long time for his only son to marry, it was very sweet and touching, especially as he met his bride through his Dad!

I hope George picks one of the boys. The wedding photo will be bit odd looking if Nick is the best man. George is older than Amal, Nick is in his 70's and Amal's maid/matron of honor will most likely be close to her age. The 70 yr old man will stand out - but on the other hand it will make GC look young in comparison - ha! Seriously, George should pic whoever he wants.

What about Gio? He's always with him anyway and he can do double duty as his security! :-)

George doesn't look that old and his dad still looks pretty good for 80. But never mind that; I might be dense didn't know you picked by how they will look in the pictures. I thought it was who has been the closest to you overall. xxx.

The best man is usually your best friend. Occasionally this is your father, but usually it's not.
