Re: Why Does George Date These Gals
“He always seemed to women different from what he was, and they loved in him not himself, but the man created by their imagination, whom they had been eagerly seeking all their lives; and afterwards, when they noticed their mistake, they loved him all the same.”
― Anton Chekhov, The Lady With the Little Dog and Other Stories, 1896-1904

I think that's the crux of the problem. The man created in their imagination is not who George is. But unlike the quote, it brings nothing but disappointment.

Carla - I think that Chekov quote is perfect for George. Sadly, though, I think it also describes many of us in our own lives and like Lorna says, it doesn't always end up with us "loving him all the same".

Re: Why Does George Date These Gals
Love the Checkhov quote and I think it so summarises our experience of George (as in, the man in reality doesn't match up to our expectations of the man in our imagination), if that makes sense.
Yes, we're laughing at you. Can't help it, I'm afraid, what you're saying is so ludicrous it's funny.
And this has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with George being coerced into relationships by his PR team and everything to do with the easily understood fact (understood fact by everyone else here apart from you it seems) that if you put pictures of yourself on the internet, then those pictures can be seen on the internet. And that's true for ALL pictures, whether sleazy, pornographic, violent or indeed kind, caring, charitable etc (just google 'Mother Theresa'). Again, this has nothing to do with George's PR team.
The idea that children are being harmed by who George Clooney dates is hilarious. Children aren't particularly interested in a 52-year old man who stars in films aimed at grown ups, let along going to search online to see if he has a girlfriend and then google her and then take the 'safe search off' button. If they want to see porn, all they have to do is type 'porn' into google, Or watch any RnB video on MTV. Or google Justin Bieber's latest girlfriend - she has an 'interesting' background. Or just watch the WWE on tv (I believe it airs on weekend afternoons, is that right?).
Oh, I'm so bored of you screaming about bullying whenever someone doesn't agree with you. If you're so sensitive that you can't deal with anyone disagreeing with your precious beliefs then maybe a discussion forum isn't the right place for you?Ocean wrote:Bullying tactics again?

Actually, this is true of ALL the women George has ever dated, going back decades. In fact, it's also true of every woman who's ever taken such a photo and had it posted online.Ocean wrote: Again, since it's failing to sink in:
There are sleazy pornographic & violent photos, incriminating allegations & other compromising material READILY AVAILABLE online about the last few girlfriends George Clooney has dated.

I agree with you, Admin, on everything you said except that we're all laughing at Ocean. I, for one, am not - even though we've disagreed on several occasions. Whatever her views on George's motivations, she is a fan and has a right to her opinions - even if we don't share them.

Admin, please do not generalize, I do not laugh at Ocean, I like her and I agree with most of the things she posted.
Also it is not your business to make fun of other posters here or to pick on them.

Re: Why Does George Date These Gals
Sorry if you're upset, but I think it's a fair point. I didn't say everyone was laughing at her, only the ones she thinks were "bullying". I thought that was clear by inference but if not, then my apologies.
She has a right to her opinion, just as others have the right to disagree with it or even laugh at it when it gets ridiculous.
