L'histoire du film :
Monuments Men retrace l’histoire vraie de la plus grande chasse au trésor de tous les temps. Une unité très spéciale de l’armée américaine durant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale est chargée, par le président Roosevelt, d’aller en Allemagne, pour rechercher des œuvres d’art volées par les Nazis, afin de les restituer ensuite à leurs propriétaires légitimes. C’est une mission à haut risque, puisque les œuvres d’art sont alors prises au piège derrière les lignes ennemies et l’armée allemande, face à la défaite imminente du Reich, a l’ordre de tout détruire. Comment ces sept « Monuments Men », tous directeurs de musée ou historiens d’art, bien plus familiers avec un Michel-Ange qu’avec une arme, peuvent-ils espérer réussir ?

The story of the film:
Monuments Men traces the true story of the greatest of all time treasure hunt. This is a mission at high risk, since works of art are then taken trapped behind enemy lines and the German army, facing the imminent defeat of the Reich, ordered everything destroyed. How can these seven "Monuments Men", all directors of Museum or art, more familiar historians with a Michelangelo with a weapon, hope to succeed?
