Another New year is coming, it is time to make new resolutions with confidence and leave our old failures of the past behind. It's is time to make a fresh start for a new beginning for a new success for our future.

Does anyone have any superstitions for New Years Day ?
Mine is...."Don't do any washing on New Years Day, because you'll

Joanna--How funny you have that superstition! I lived in Japan for several years and New Years is their most important holiday. One of the things they do is major "spring" cleaning right before New Years because they believe if you are cleaning on New Years Day you will do nothing but clean the rest of the year!

We always ate lentils at 12 to insure enough money to get through the coming year.

Oh these New Year superstitions are great !
The old one here in UK is, for Good Luck the first person to walk through the door into the house after midnight must be dark haired and carrying a piece of coal.
Does this happen elsewhere ? I don't know what happens now with most houses having central heating and no open fires !

Yes Jo, that is a Scottish New Year superstition too, in fact my Dad used to send my dark haired brother-in-law out the back door just so he could walk back in the front door after midnight! Bizarre. Our family still keeps this tradition up, if I even dared to walk through any of my families front doors without anything like food/alcohol/bread etc in my hands, they would not let me in, forget coal, my family wants the food/beer.
