Who Are the Academy Voters?

According to the above article from the LA Times, a very high percentage of voters for the Academy Awards are white, middle-aged males. If that's who's voting, no wonder George is carting around a cute young thang on his arm around awards season most years. I would be willing to bet that most guys in that age bracket think he's the man for getting a young, gorgeous chick and they really look up to him for that. Now, if the majority of voters were middle-aged women, he'd probably go for a more appropriate partner for the season.

With nearly 80% of the voting membership over the age of fifty, the chance of The Artist and Hugo, those "tributes to classic Hollywood", winning most of what they're nominated for seem pretty likely.
