Dating one of the hottest and tallest women in Hollywood is becoming an issue for A-list actor George Clooney. Star magazine claims that George has developed a complex about his height since dating the former wrestling beauty.

Clooney’s new insecurity, according to the tabloid, has led him to take drastic measures when going out in public with the lengthy blonde.

“George is getting inserts for his Gucci shoes from a custom-shoe specialist in Beverly Hills. They should give him just enough of a boost to stand tall next to Stacy,” the magazine claims.

With George Clooney pushing 6′, could this story be true? According to über publicist Stan Rosenfeld, probably not. “George is 5′ 11″ and has no complex that I know of about his height. And certainly isn’t wearing lifts,” he explains.

Back in her wrestling days, Keibler was also listed at 5’11″ so as funny as this story is, we’re going to side with Stan.

Being how tall the high heels are that Stacy wears that take her over 6ft those would have to be some tall lifts in George's shoes. I doubt he cares that much Lisa and Sarah were both also pretty tall.

Just last week, Robert Downey Jr. was “outed” as a Tom Cruise-esque lift-wearer. Who shall fall this week? George Clooney! Except that I don’t really think Clooney is as tiny as RDJ or Tom. RDJ was proven to be a career-lift-wearer through a special photo investigation, but to his credit, he wears them well, and often they’re not-so-disguised as giant sneakers. Tom Cruise, however, thinks he’s fooling us. He thinks he can saunter around in his high heels and skinny jeans and we just won’t notice. He’s wrong! So why is Clooney – who is alleged around 5-foot-10 or 11 – wearing lifts? Because of his great Redwood of a lady of negotiable affection (trademark: Arrested Development).

It’s the height of romance for George Clooney, 50, and girlfriend Stacy Keibler, 32. While it’s been easier for the 5’11” stunner to see eye-to-eye with the 5’10” Oscar-winning actor than with her previous boyfriends, a source says George’s patience for continuing comments about their comparative statures has been coming up a bit, well, short.

But he’s not taking it lying down – or standing up, for that matter – and he’s doing something about it.

I could see it. Every red carpet Clooney walks with Stacy, he looks increasingly gnomish, and he’s not a man used to looking gnomish. Plus – and I’ve said this before – I think his back is really killing him these days. My father has had back problems for most of his life, and I recognize something in Clooney’s gait and stance. He’s in pain. His shoulders are more hunched over, and when George thinks the cameras aren’t on him, he always seems mid-grimace. I’m just saying, Clooney isn’t carrying himself the way he usually does, and that’s affecting his height, and how we view his height compared to Stacy’s. But yeah, Oscar-Date Barbie needs to invest in some flats.

I recall a rumor that George wore lifts in his shoes with previous tall girlfriends. We'll have to see how high Stacey's heels are and how tall George looks standing next to her when they hit the next red carpet.

I've sometimes suspected he wears lifts. So many people say that he's not even close to 5'11" that I really wonder.

Maybe that's why he always makes Stacy walk four steps behind him - the height difference isn't as noticeable that way

Lovely Lois I totally agree with you, I have seen the same thing in George's face and posture for some time. I had very serious spinal surgery a few years ago and miraculously am completely recuperated. I wanted to stop say I agree! I hope he has surgery soon that fixes the problem. Its awful to be in pain like that.. (did your dad's back issues get corrected Lois?)

re: the lifts? geeez I'd suspect most of the actors in hollywood wear them LOL.

I reallly doubt Tom Cruise cared much that Nicole Kidman towered over him, let alone what anyone else thought about it. I'll bet dollars to donuts that it's not a public concern for Clooney either.

If he had a serious height complex, he would not choose a really tall girlfriend. He has too many women to choose from. I would have a hard time believing that he worries about looking short and then chooses SK as his date at so many public events.

I guess high heels plus the hairstyle (not sure what it's called - a kind of bouffant-y thing) is going to add inches to her frame.

I guess that if he really had issues with her height he's have asked her to wear flats or something.

Someone needs to inform her that that hair style went out after the 50's and thank gawd it hasn't come back into fashion...what was she thinking?

It doesn't matter one iota to me how tall he is but here's some opinions about George Clooney's height.

Can look 5'9.5" a lot. I agree with Dural, looks the same height on screen as Richard Gere, 5'10" . 1.80m as a barefoot measurement maybe a little bit of a stretch but I woudn't bet on anything under 1.77m. He's surely a 5'10er.

Alright, let's do battle again on Mr. Clooney. I saw him at a Descendant's screening several months ago. I spoke to him for a minute. He is btw 5-9 and 5-10 as I have said the other two times that I have met him. The pics that Dural posted on February 9 prove my claim. Bring it on!

My brother was in his class at augusta high, and he says Clooney was one lf the short guys, like 5'8" range. He's grown after that though, 5'9" and change today.

If Shailene Woodley's height of 5'7.5" on this site is to be believed, then Clooney is no more than 5'9.5". See this excellent photo of both of them barefoot and side-by-side in The Descendants.

Yes, maybe a rumour fix. Just opinions of his fans I picked up on Explorer. Someone posted a tweet about his being shorter in real life and that got me curious. No offense meant!

I am 5 feet 10 inches tall, and I was wearing "1/2" heeled loafers in these pictures. Nick was wearing classic men's dress shoes, with the same heel-height as mine, and Nina was wearing high-heeled dress sandals with an estimated heel-height of 3-4 inches (she was wearing straight-leg pants that covered the heels of the shoes in the back).

Sorry, IM, the closest I ever came to George Clooney is when I saw him on Hamilton Avenue in Cincinnati while he was filming, "The Ides Of March." I would like to meet George one day, and pose for a pic with him too.

I agree. I can't understand "why" George would be obsessed about his height ....I mean, really?, those basketball players who have to strain their necks to kiss their significant others who are probably less than 6 feet height. Avg height for women I believe is 5 ft 4.

George is fine especially in Armani. It is a little "Clark Kent" like, when he puts on a real suit. He's like a "Superhero" but wears a real suit...

Well, Melbert, I guess you will have to move to Cincinnati, or the Northern Kentucky area in order for that to happen. For Nick, Nick, Ada, Allison, and Nicky, that will be a definate shoo-in. But, George, that will be another story.
