Wasn't it somewhere that either a work friend of Amal or a "source" said that Amal is always up to date about music and so on.....

I'm sure you did maybe you don't know it was her. Listen to the two songs below. Those two were one of her big hits international. Maybe you heard it in the radio or so.

Not sure if she is a good choice for a wedding. Her songs sound always so like depression.

I don't listen to music radio, just BBC Radio 4 &
BBC Radio 5 Live.
I have my choices of music on CD's or iTunes.

And the titlesong of Maleficent, very good !  

I'm sorry she's sick (even tho I don't know anything about her music), so it doesn't look as if she'll be performing for the BIG DAY.  Unless she's just resting up in preparation.

Lana Del Rey Cancels Europe Concerts Because Of Mystery Illness

Lana Del Rey has just cancelled all of her concerts in Europe, due to a mystery illness.
“For medical reasons independent of our will, the artist (Lana Del Ray) has been forced to cancel all promotional activities planned in Europe over the coming days,” Del Rey’s record labels Polydor and Universal said in a joint statement.
She also bowed out of a Tuesday appearance on BBC Radio 1′s Lounge.
BBC Radio 1 noted on Twitter Monday, “We are very sorry to announce that @LanaDelRey has had to cancel her Live Lounge appearance tomorrow due to illness,” adding that she “really wanted to perform, but it is sadly not possible, and she is devastated to have to cancel. Get well soon Lana!”
Del Rey, who cancelled two private concerts in Paris last week, has previously discussed her struggles with an unidentified illness.
“I’d been sick on tour for about two years with this medical anomaly that doctors couldn’t figure out,” she said in an interview published in June. “That’s a big part of my life: I just feel really sick a lot of the time and can’t figure out why.”

Hollywood Reporter just posted she will perform.  So the mysterious illness- perhaps Clooney-is-paying-me-more-itis??

That would be a terrible move on her part if she hopes to have a long career.  You don't dump your fans who've paid for tickets and travel arrangements because you've suddenly gotten a better offer.  Honestly though, if this chick performs at the wedding, I will start to question his mental stability too.

ETA:  Just checked out the Hollywood Reporter article.  They haven't confirmed anything.  It's an almost verbatim recap of the reports coming out of the Italian media.  Nothing new or confirmed to report.

The star will reportedly be married by his close friend Water Veltroni, the former mayor of Rome

While reports attempting to pinpoint the location of George Clooney’s upcoming nuptials with human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin have ranged from his estate at Lake Como to a London register office, Clooney himself recently let slip that Venice is the chosen destination.
The actor was being honored at a charity event in Florence when he said, "I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying in a couple of weeks, in Venice of all places."
Italian media are releasing further details of the event. The pair will be married by Clooney’s close friend Walter Veltroni, the former mayor of Rome, reported Corriere della Sera on Monday.
Clooney met Veltroni in Rome in 2007 when Clooney received the Peace Summit Award, alongside Don Cheadle, for promoting peace in Darfur. Veltroni is well regarded in Italy for his positive policies on the environment and other issues, and is known as "Obama's European counterpart."
Clooney himself sees the similarities. “I consider him to be a great friend, like Obama,” said Clooney, while in Rome to promote his film Leatherheads in 2008, as Corriere della Sera noted. “Few people rarely have something very special, the ability for leadership, as well as great speaking skills, like Obama. In Veltroni I felt the same power.”
The three-day-long wedding festivities will culminate in a ceremony at Ca’Farsetti, a 14th century palace on the Grand Canal, reports Corriere della Sera. It is rumored that guests will be staying at the Hotel Aman, Venice’s new seven-star luxury haven. Rates for the decadent hotel begin at $1,600 a night, with a suite costing $5,180 a night. The newspaper also confirms that the bride will wear Oscar de la Renta. A request for confirmation from Clooney's rep has not been returned. 
Singer Lana Del Rey will provide entertainment for the evening. And the guest list is expected to include such A-listers as Bono, Ellen Barkin, Sandra Bullock, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts.
Clooney, who is a regular at the Venice Film Festival, failed to make an appearance this year, disappointing many local fans. His wedding is expected to give a healthy boost to the local economy, as paparazzi are already making plans for the fall extravaganza. 

Mm, well I read today somewhere that she has tummy ulcers, (know what that's like, not great) but that she doesn't have concerts in Europe, just promotional stuff to do ie interviews on radio before her concerts later in the month in US, and I understood that's what she'd pulled out of

We'll know in a couple of weeks or less.  Maybe medication and treatment will set her right.  God, if George did hire her for the wedding, I wouldn't want to have been the one making that phone cal "sorry Mr Clooney, she can't perform for the reception"

Oh, I think he'd understand completely. He's had similar problems himself........

In his family there are some people who can sing and play some instruments very well (rosemary clooney's sons and Nick, for example). So why hire Lana? I'm not even sure the George knows who Lana is.

I actually like her music, but as someone above said, it's much more suited to a funeral than a wedding.

So, did she or didn't she?  The words EXPECTED and REPORTEDLY don't sound very definitive to me.

Reports on other threads say it was a band who performed the song, which seems much more likely to me.

That's what I thought I read too Missa.  There is nothing on her news feed that says anything (of course).

This comment made me laugh. I don't know her songs but I listened to the videos in the thread and I think they could be wedding songs but maybee in a more Twilight kind of wedding.
