Trimming the bushes
[this is from a conversation started off by pics of Betty looking pretty 'bare' - katiedot]
Lucy, a "brazilian" is when you shave down "there". Since her undergarments are a little transparent, I'm just assuming.

Melbert I spent 3 months in Rio (about 29 years ago) went bikini shopping, spent a hour in a dressing room yelling out to a sales clerk"don't you have anything bigger" that bikini I passed down to my daughter. It was one of the smallest bikini's I've ever worn. That's why they call it a brazilian wax!Yes it hurts!!!!

I'm sure it's old because she doesn't pose for pics like this any more.
As for the, ahem, topiary, a Brazilian is when you have a bit of hair left and the Hollywood is when it's all taken off. The latter is so-called because the porn industry (who started the entirely shaved look) is based in LA.
The Brazilian isn't that bad to do, but the Hollywood is unbelievably painful. There are some places hot wax just don't belong!

LOL! Totally agree.watching wrote: I think camping in the bushes (so to speak) is simply a memory for George.
I'd go as far to say that he's possibly even forgotten that women have hair anywhere except on their heads. I recently had a young intern in the office who had no idea that women usually have hair in their armpits. In fact, I think there were a lot of things about women that my young intern has yet to learn, but there you go. He wasn't in the office for that sort of training, so I kept my mouth firmly shut and did my best not to laugh.

I had this sort of conversation with my niece. They were watching an old movie and the woman was not shaved at all, they were very shocked by this. I then explained that it goes in trends and it was very fashionable for a time not to shave in fact not shaving your armpits was a bit of a trend. The look on their faces was priceless especially when I suggested they could watch movies from the various decades and they could see for themselves women getting more and more hairless!

Re: Trimming the bushes
Talking seriously for once, it's actually scary as hell. So many teenagers think that totally bare is "natural" or "nicer". It's because all they see at that age is porn and porn stars are totally bare and boys get shocked to find that's not the case in real life and girls are under so much pressure to do the same.
The other, even more scary thing, is that because porn is the first introduction to sex that youngsters have nowadays, they think that what they see on their computer screen is perfectly normal and is what people usually do in bed. You know, girl on girl, fisting, double-a and the rest of it. Or maybe you guys really are doing all that in bed and I'm the one who's out of the loop?

Then I'm out of the loop with you Katie!! No, not THAT way!!! But, I agree. And it's not just porn on the internet. It's the Kardashians, Jersey Shore, Rock of Love, etc... Just boobs and butts and sex and drinking and, and, and.

Re: Trimming the bushes
I remember when it was risqué to have something other than the landing strip. The most outrageous thing people did was shape it into something – be it for Valentine’s Day, etc or dye it a different colour. The idea that everything being bare is the norm now (especially with the 20 something crowd) is odd to me. But maybe I am too old to get it – a 30 something prude. I just have no interest actively putting myself through quite a bit of waxing pain to look like I have the genitalia of a pre-pubescent girl because society has decided that look is that’s all the rage now. And considering the size of my boobs and hips, losing some hair down there is not going to make me look less of a woman and I have no interest in conforming to fit some guy’s fantasy of what he may have seen in a porn film. If that where the case and it was demanded, I would be demanding certain minimum length and girth in return.

she doesnt have camel toe, she has half the hoof. And I dont think she looks like Cindy; in fact, I think this is a bad picture of her face.
As for the wax job, dont they have a numbing spray that you use first so the ripping off of hair doesnt hurt? And does mommy and daddy pay for their daughters wax-job so they can be "normal"? Maybe the perk of the waxxing is so one doesnt get hair stuck in their teeth? just sayin ~

Trimming the bushes
It'd be great if they would wax their backs. I'm not so excited by the rest of the works being hairless, just a good trim will do.
Funny/sad story: I once dated a guy who wasn't, um, as well endowed as one could hope for. He did however have quite long pubic hair. I can't tell you the number of times I thought to myself 'if I had a garden rake, it'd be a lot easier to find your pocket monster, mate'.
TMI?

Oh, and while I'm on the subject, my mum and I were on our weekly phone call and she tells me her local beauty parlour now offers 'vajjazling' where not only do they take all the hair off, they then add decorative crystals.
Why would anyone do this to themselves I'm wondering? Has anyone tried it?

Re: Trimming the bushes
When I had one of my multiple abdominal surgeries (very long, boring story), they shaved me a down a little further than they needed to (kinky nurse???). So, while I'm recovering from an abdominal wound from bellybutton to no-longer-there-pubic hair, the little hairs started growing back and OMFG!!!! Prickly and itchy - the whole thing. And, no, I have not gotten any piercings or other decorations "down there".

Re: Trimming the bushes
I shaved once for swimming season and the growing back is a bitch. Maybe that is why they keep doing it? I have heard of vajazzling very big in Essex, not so sure why you would want little rocks rubbing up against you most guys wouldn't care as long as they see you naked. There are several porn guys who are hairless but I bet that doesn't take off!

Re: Trimming the bushes
It's interesting though, that in The American, the girl had a full bush, barely a trim. And that movie wasn't set in the "olden days". I can't stand the growing out phase, and you have to a little, if you're waxing. Shaving just gets painful. A friend had hers entirely lasered off, so she didn't have to go through it anymore. Great idea for now, but I think, um, when I'm in my 60's, 70's, 80's......do I really want to see that naked "kitty"? A little camoflauge will definitely go a long way...

OMG! I just found this thread and I'm literally LMAO.
Speaking of the laser hair removal, I would love to have my legs and underarms done. Imagine never having to shave again...sigh. But seeing as how I have blonde hair, that wont happen. My neighbor works at a doc office who does the Botox, laser, beauty treatments and she said the laser can't 'see' blonde hair so it's very ineffective for blondes.

Hate to tell you, bellybaby, but when you get to your 60's, 70's & 80's the camoflauge isn't there. Gets pretty sparce as you get to be a senior cougar. It's there if you look in the mirror.

I can't even believe I'm saying this but here goes . . . The older you get, the less you have. The last thing you need to worry about is getting shaved or lasered as you approach 60. Men go bald on top and we go bald, um, well, you know. At least ours isn't visible to the "naked" eye.

Unless you're senile, you'll remember you have your kitty. Hope you'll still have someone to pet it, even bald. Fortunately, never known an ungroomed man, or an overly hairy one. Those I've known have been verrrrrry nice.

Thanks MyGirl for digging up this old topic. I haven't stopped laughing since I read it. Somehow I missed this in February. I know some dark haired women have to shave/wax/laser. I am blonde too and don't have to shave that often. As for the "crotch" area, a little trim now and then does it for me. LOL

cindigirl, I too have had many laughs over this thread. lol
That is one good thing about having blonde hair, its usually softer and thinner so we don't have to shave as often. I'm currently in the landing strip phase right now since its swimsuit season. Its not that bad once its all shaved, just a quick touch up once a week and then you don't have to worry about the itchy. Once summer is over, I'll go back to shaving the bikini line and then keeping the rest trimmed.
LOL, this is kinda weird. I've 'known' you guys a few days and I'm sharing bikini area grooming tips with you. LMAO

I would never put hot wax anywhere near my girly bits!!!!!
Luckily, I'm not hairy. Like Cindigirl I have mostly blond hair. and only need to trim once in a while. I only shave my legs once a week but I could get away with once every 2 weeks.

Been there. Its not that fun. Especially if you do it at home. You can't get hold of the strips at the right angle to yank it off so it hurts a helluva lot worse.

Yeah, you've got to get someone else to do it for you. I find liquid hot wax is a hell of a lot less painful than wax with strips.

Re: Trimming the bushes
I've been lucky. Have had a professional bikini wax and the gal was great. She puts hot moist towels (not burning) over the area and waits a few minutes. It helps to open the pores. Once she does the wax it's a piece of cake. Figuratively speaking only! I didn't feel any pain at all - just a brief pinch and that was only once in the entire treatment.
Lasted about 6 weeks before I had to go back so no issues for me!
I did hear though that there is the possibility of getting infections from waxing. I suggest being the first client of the day and insisting they use new wax! (They should after each client but some of the cut-rate neighborhood nail/wax combo salons don't do it!)
I had mine done at a spa. Pay a little more but it's worth it.

Haha was a bit worried for a minute. I have heard of second hand wax stories befores makes you feel a little ill just thinking about it. I have never been one to put myself through undue pain so I have no desire to get waxed hot towels or no hot towels. Besides do guys really care? In my experience if they are getting sex they couldn't careless. I haven't heard any man saying not before you wax! For me he would need to do it first then maybe. I think porn stars have a lot to answer for!
