Yes but you need to have a Twitter account yourself. You can read all the tweets that you want but to "reply" and to "reply privately" you need to have your own account.

Yes, but you have follow a person and I believe they need to follow you back in order to tweet them privately.

For the "private message" possibly but for a general reply they don't have to "follow" you back. Like in the case of Elisabetta, she now has 60,000 followers but she follows only 95. I have written to her and she has replied back and everybody can see the replies; however I don't think I can write her privately unless she adds me to the 95 that she already follows.

Yep, that's exactly how it works. Anyone with a twitter account can tweet publicly to another person on twitter. Pandabear was asking about private messages and to do that you do have to be followed by that person.

It's a race between her and her friends. She wanted to reach 40,000 followers by last week and then 70,000 by year's end. She is over that number now. Naturally you have to tweet constantly otherwise people lose interest in you. You tweet when you wake up in the morning, what you eat (she showed how she made Aunt Jemina pancake with some kind of leche.. for topping), when you exercise, what you bought, what your pets do, where you go for dinner, quote of the day, book you read, etc. Most of her followers are Italians and they keep complaining that she tweets too much in English which they need to translate but luckily a lot of them know English. I really do not understand this race, is it a status symbol? Like if you reach 100,000 are you automatically declared a celebrity??

Not always. I have seen her fan club pushing people to follow her to reach a number by a certain date but most of the time it's Elisabetta who keeps the scores and thanks the followers as in this recent tweet (my translation is in red):

Elisabetta Canalis may be single (or she and Mehcad Brooks just had a big fight), but it looks like the animal lover is preparing for love: she’s reading the book ‘Cosmic Coupling‘ (an astrology book about how the different signs from the zodiac match up). Maybe she’s considering a new prospect .

Yes, that's my understanding.

It took me a while to get to that conclusion because the way they've written it, it reads as though she got the commercial wrong during the filming, right?

I was on Twitter today and saw Elisabetta's new tweets. First of all she started training in Kav Maga, the Israeli "body to body" action combat. She started on 1/3 and today she has bruises all over her arms and hands.

At Artist Domingo Zapata's studio in the Chateau Marmont in LA..., I was never asked to be painted before... However I know that with him I am in good hands. You will see the result soon in his new art book and show called TEN!

I checked the site. Looks like this painter paints nudes...and abstracts, not sure what to think of his work! Isn't this already deja vu? Oh yeah, the so called "C..o" art book that Stacey Keibler did back in October.

I have always thought that George would end up back with Eli. He has a tendency to have on and off again relationships. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they get back together this year. I think it's funny she's doing the cryptic tweet and playing cray cray at her own game. I can just imagine cray cray rushing over to George's house to make sure it wasn't true, LOL. I'd put money on the fact that cray cray follows Eli's tweets and probably vice versa.

I don't think for a second George is going to get back with Eli. It seemed the breakup was a very long time coming and he was over her a long time before the split. I'm sure she would go back in a second but Eli won't be getting a round two with George anytime soon. Not that I don't think she will try and start some rumours when he splits with Stacy she will you can count on it.

That is so pitiful. Of all the friends she should have by now she still has to take pics of herself and tweet them. Val Micchetti was in Brasil for a month, now is in Punta del Este with Bar Refaeli and other friends having a great time, no projects in the near future, never heard anything else about the shop/studio that she and Val opened up in November. She goes to lunch alone like the recent pics showed (Mauro's at Fred Segal and now MR C), takes Krav Maga lessons and other classes (English and acting I believe) and she tweets all the time but most of the replies come from Italian fans. She was completely alone on New Year's eve and day because she twitted all day long. What happened to all her friends, the ones she ones she used to get papped with going to restaurants and clubs? I am starting to feel sorry for her because the latest pics, the ones where she is reading the book and having lunch at Mauro's Fred Segal she really looks ugly. Several Italian bloggers noticed that too and are wondering whatever happened to the beautiful girl they once knew.

She left LA for Sardinia on Friday, 12/23 and it took her 20 hrs and 4 different airports because when she landed in Frankfurt some european airlines refused to let her two dogs stay in the cabin with her, so while she was fighting she missed a few flights. She arrived late at night on Christmas Eve, completely exhausted, hungry but happy to be home. She tweeted everybody how happy she was. She stayed home one day and was back on the plane day after Christmas. None of her friends were in LA at that time, her family pressured her to stay, she was unable to see all of her relatives, her dogs were with her….so what was the rush to be back here? She loves her family but she cares more about LA.

It is a little odd but then she said she has a project lined up in January so maybe she is trying hard to get her english to a certain level. The shop is just weird it is award time and you would think Val would be in LA the celebs aren't going to come to you if they don't know you exist. It takes a lot of work and going on a long vacation at this time just seems stupid. Eli mustn't be involved anymore and maybe she has lost some friends along the way she isn't getting the same sort of attention she was and most of them seem to have families etc. I think going to Italy for one day was just silly she doesn't seem to really have anything too much to do except get papped around LA alone and I thought her family all meant so much to her! Not as much as her "career" it seems.

That may be why she is willing to go to the store and work whilst Val is away - she can almost guarantee a pap opportunity every day. Val seemed to do the hard work for the studio (Val tweeted about finding realtor and the right space when she was in LA months back) and maybe Betty now has to step up and mind the shop whilst Val holidays - if it is a true partnership. If it is a by appointment only store that makes it easy for Betty. The store can book clients at times that are suitable for her and her endeavours at trying to develop a LA career (around casting calls, interviews, gigs) and she doesn't have to make the store her priority over her pursuit of fame.

What you just said makes sense EXCEPT she never mentioned the shop once in her tweets, I mean not even once and she tweets all day long. She talks about the Krav Maga training, the bruises that she is getting all over her arms and hands, the English/Drama classes she is taking, the lunches by the hotel pool, the painter who is going to paint her, the songs she is listening too, what she eats, etc. but the shop, not even a tiny word, ever!
